We would like to extend a special thank you to Christine Stutz & Baltimore Magazine for highlighting Teavolve in October's Food Issue with "First Years" Where first-time restaurateurs divulge the joys and tribulations of owning their own establishments.

Congratulations to Candice & Glenn on winning the "Best Costume" Contest during our rockin' Halloween party hosted by One World Muzik!

MAY 2007
Well most of you have probably heard about our plans to open a second tea house in Harbor East this Winter. It will be located at the corner of Eden and Aliceanna in brand new Eden Luxury Apartment Building next to Pazo Restaurant. The name will be Teavolve Café and Lounge.

It will be twice the size of the original with more of an industrial, loungy feel. You can join us for breakfast, lunch or a late night dessert after a movie at the nearby Landmark Theatre due to open in August. We will serve wine, beer & Organic tea infused cocktails.

The opening will also mark the launch of Teavolve’s Private Label Teas and a new design. And for you true tea connoisseurs, we will expand our tea list to include reserve teas, single estate teas, fair trade teas, & more organic teas.

We will still have our live entertainment with spoken word, acoustic performers and guest DJ’s. We are hoping to make it a place that you will never want to leave. Don’t what to be cooped up in a building on these warm summer nights or have Fido with you? Don’t fret, we will also have outdoor seating!

Stay Tuned For More Details!

MARCH 2007
Teavolve got a little air time on WJZ Channel 13's Morning Show this past Saturday & it was a lot of fun. I had to get up at 5:30am to be at the studio at 7:00, early mornings are not my thing. I was running on 3 hours of sleep because we had a great show featuring Laura Brino the previous night. We were not prepared for the turnout we received and we got hit hard!

Del & I got to the station, set up the tea pots w/ five different teas, I reviewed my notes for the segment then pried my eyes open for the live broadcast. The morning show hosts Tim and Jessica were fabulous, they were genuinely interested in tea & before we went live, the asked all kinds of questions that I was more than happy to answer. After all, I love talking about tea, it's my passion.

Once the cameras "starting rolling" I went into auto-pilot. I started by saying the we were voted Best Tea House and went right into the "tea talk" covering black tea, Oolong, green, white, the red bush Rooibos & my favorite Pu erh. All of a sudden I see the tech person doing the "wrap it up sign" and before you know it they were playing the theme song. Del jokes and says it was like the Oscars when a winner goes to long. Hey, they wanted to know about tea, I can go on for hours.

We were supposed to return after the commercial break but ran out of time. I think the "laughing bird" from the zoo that was featured ahead of the Teavolve segment stole some of my air time. Darn Bird! Anyway, it was a fun time, I met some great people at the station and I had another opportunity to share my passion. You can check out the segment at: www.wjz.com

AUGUST 2006
July was a fun month for us at Teavolve despite the random BGE blackouts during the hottest days of the summer. Thanks to you loyal customers, Teavolve was voted "Best Tea Shop 2006" by Baltimore Magazine, we are making plans for the launch of Saturday & Sunday Brunch in September & we are also considering a game night once a week. We've been contemplating Trivia Night, Scrabble, Bingo...or maybe a rotation of games--let's us know what you think!

I also became an aunt for the first time to my precious niece Mina, which means "Beautiful Girl" in Korean & she certainly lives up to the name!

JUNE 2006
Some of you may have already heard, Tea-ology is now legally Teavolve! We love this crazy business so much that we plan to open others in the Baltimore area, so to prevent any/further confusion with the Teaology based in California, we just changed the name.

We've also added a few loose leaf teas to the menu; two white teas, Ginger Peach & Summer Melon, a green tea Lime Blossom (all great iced) & a Red Tea (caffeine-free) Peppermint Patty, this one is great as a latte! Receive 10% off when you purchase 2 ounces or more of these new & delicious teas. Offer ends 7/13/06.

Last month kicked off our monthly music series & it was a big hit--we look forward to featuring more of Baltimore's talented musicians!

MAY 2006
The weather is warm & the drinks are cold--Del has launched the new iced drinks & they are "tealicious"! (I apologize for that but I couldn't resist). We now have tea lattes, fruitea sodas, fruitea smoothies & for the people who want something extremely decadent, try the chocolate or spiced chai either iced or as a smoothie. But be careful, they are extremely addictive. We also have bubble tea, the sweet, flavored tea drink, containing moderate amounts of tapioca "pearls" (also known as "boba"). Thanks to all of the kind folks who tasted our concoctions in the experimental stages and gave us their honest opinions to enable us to perfect the drinks. Don't forget you can also pick any of our 40 loose leaf teas & we'll ice them for you. And you can enjoy all of these tealicious drinks at our brand new tea bar. So come check us out.

APRIL 2006
This month marks Tea-ology’s 4 month anniversary and boy, has it been a wonderful ride!. We have received great reviews from customers and the press alike & the television appearances were fun too. Del & I are really amazed at how many awesome people we have met through the tea house, people coming from near and far. We thank you all for your patience and support while we went & are still going through the growing pains. And many thanks to our regulars (you know who you are) who stop by and spend quality time with us. Being Philly natives, we are truly happy to call Baltimore home. It certainly is “Charm City."

This Just In! tea-ology just received its “tea-presso” and will be turning out tea lattes, tea sodas, iced teas per order and chai lattes; in fact we will offer five different chai lattes! Our first chai Happy Hour will be on Friday, April 7th from 5pm-7pm. For you bubble tea fans, it's is on the way along with tea smoothies.

Our curator Larry Scott will have his art reception on Friday, April 7th from 6pm-8pm. The exhibit "Inspiration" premieres all new works by the artist voted "Best Visual Artist" in City Paper's 2005 Best of Issue. Come out and meet the artist behind the art!

Cheers!
